Do you enjoy watching films or series, reading books, swimming or programming? Maybe music is the love of your life? If your answer is ‘yes’, you’re in the right hands. Gorrions are people that have many passions and playing instruments or singing are a part of them.
Great company culture comes with open communication, traditions and some after-work activities. These events are supposed to bring people together by spending time outside of the office and get to know each other a little better. In our case, one of such situations is the annual Cover Day.
After exceeding Gorrion’s gate, you’re going to meet guitarists, pianists, vocalists, bassists, drummers, and even an accordionist! You won’t believe how many musicians are here. What’s better is that we encourage each other to play new instruments, so year after a year, we have more people playing on everything!
The proposal was simple; someone said that it would be great to have an opportunity to play together from time to time engaging as many Gorrion’s musicians as possible. This idea has grown up into a complete plan. Firstly, each of us proposed some songs, then we chose the best ones, learned to play or sing them. We all were incredibly excited and helped each other in preparations.
When the day came, neither of us could focus on anything but what was going to happen in the evening. We have played such songs as ‘In the end’, ‘Lord of the boards’, ‘Like a stone’, ‘Little talks’ or famous Polish ballad ‘Przez Twe oczy zielone’. We all have been waiting for the Gorrion Cover Day, but no one expected that it would be as awesome as it was. And now, well, it’s a tradition!
This time, we set the bar high. We wanted to play songs such as ‘No diggity’ or ’Pumped up Kicks’. Of course, as every year, there wouldn’t be a Gorrion Cover Day without classics like ‘Jump’ or ‘Come as you are’. Below, you can see how we practised at the office after hours (we’re committed, aren’t we?)
The weather was a bliss (over 20 degrees in October!), the sun was shining, the birds were singing. All that. We’ve been playing for over 7 hours and ate pizza all day long. It was a great day for Gorrions. Here, you can find the photos from that day.
