5 things you need to know about our onboarding process

Gorrion’s Guide is your new best friend

We start your onboarding process, even before your first day in the office – you’ll get your very own Gorrion’s employee handbook in pdf (saving paper and it’s always up-to-date!). Inside, there’s our history, values, processes, company culture as well as a career path, some essential info about the first days of work (plus, answers to some of the most asked questions, like “where to park?”) and lots of pictures. It comes in handy for sure (I, for one, use it when writing this article).

You’ll get a starter pack 

After all the administrative tasks, accesses and setting up your accounts, it’s time for a welcome pack from our marketing team that will help you get started. What’s inside? A few pens, writing pads and other wonders, depending on the time of the year. Each time we add something different, we can’t really say what’s in there specifically (it’s also a nice surprise).

You’ll have a mentor

At Gorrion, developers are not the only ones who get a mentor. Each new employee gets one. So hiring managers, marketers or designers is no different! It’s a part of our employee onboarding checklist. In that way, we ensure the effective onboarding process.

No worries, it’s all figured out

Take it one step at a time. We have a few employee onboarding checklists to ensure that we’ll provide you with all the necessary information and, at the same time, not to overwhelm you with it.

Plus, there’s a special person delegated to take care of you during your first days, who will introduce you to everything and everybody. So don’t worry, we got you. During your first few weeks, you’ll learn a lot about the Gorrion, company’s culture, the projects and more. 

Also, everything else you’ll learn later during our monthly developer meetings and company calls.

You’ll get to know all the Gorrions, sooner or later

As soon as your first day starts and you’ll get access to all our tools, you’ll be welcomed by everybody on our internal Slack channel. This tradition that we have is especially great if you’re working remotely – in that way, even sitting in your house, you can feel welcomed.

Also, for the new employees, we have a special board with all the team members so that you’ll be able to recognize them when meeting them in the office.

When it comes to events outside the workplace, we try to meet quite regularly so that new Gorrions could get to know all the other ones. Plus, during a hiking trip or barbecue, it’s much easier to form a bond with everyone, so we highly recommend it (and maybe this is the reason why we do it so often).

As you can see, it’s a structured onboarding program that will help new hires to accommodate to the new environment, meet our processes and facilitate relationship building. In short, we try hard to provide you with a memorable onboarding experience.
